Hi everyone, my name is Csaba Horváth. I’m an enthusiastic but completely average dad from beautiful Hungary. I have two wonderful little kids who I’m trying to teach English to. I’m no wizard or language genius, just a father who will do anything for his children.
That’s why you shouldn’t expect any big “rags to riches” story from me, but I would like to share a few thoughts. 🙂
I try to teach them grammar through our conversations, but it’s a different story with vocabulary. Over the years, we’ve tried countless methods together – printed picture dictionaries, apps – but none of them really appealed to them, they were just boring. Then one day, as we were browsing through one of these printed picture dictionaries and had just reached the kitchen utensils, they started drawing eyes and smiling mouths on the objects out of boredom. We laughed so hard, and that’s when I realized: humor and visual enjoyment are what really captures their attention and keeps them engaged.
That’s where the idea came from: what if I created my own, personalized program that not only educates but also entertains? At first, I just wrote a simple little dictionary program where I drew eyes and smiling mouths on the objects with a computer. But as my kids laughed and learned more and more, I realized this was more than just a game – it was a new way of learning.
So I decided to take it more seriously. An old friend of mine who knows app development helped me dream a little bigger: that’s how the PixiLearn online picture dictionary was born. I presented him with my detailed plans and the documentation of the program I had in my head. Then came six months of hard work until we made it ready for use in a commercial environment.
It wasn’t an easy road: work, family, and this project that had become a passion of mine. Along the way, I often asked myself why I was doing all this. The answer was always the same: because I saw that sparkle in my kids’ eyes when they learned new words, and because I knew that this could help not only them, but other kids too.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us on this journey. I hope that PixiLearn can help other families find the same joy in learning that we have experienced. I wish all the little language learners and their parents further success and fun learning. Take care of yourselves, and don’t forget: the joy of learning is always there, you just have to find the right way to it. Thank you for taking the time for our story.

Bedtime stories
On my website you can also discover stories, which are my personal, heartfelt creations. I read stories to my children every night. After reading the traditional bedtime storybook, we turn out the lights and then begins the magical time of lulling them to sleep with characters and stories of my own invention. I started putting these stories on paper early on, completely independently of this project. And how useful they are now! If you like them too, I’m really happy about that. 🙂

Blog
You can also find blogs on the site, which are the joint work of me and my wife. In these posts, we combine our own and our friends’ experiences with literature, as well as studies from home and abroad. My wife also plays a significant role in this project, as many of the stories are inspired by her direct experiences, and her writing skills far surpass mine. 🙂

Greetings to all PixiKidZone.com readers and PixiLearn little learners around the world 🙂
