Once upon a time, there was a rabbit and a squirrel. They were best friends and played together all the time. One beautiful summer day, after their afternoon nap, they got very hungry. So they set off into the dense forest to collect acorns.

They walked and walked, until they suddenly realized that they were lost in the dark forest. No matter how they wandered, they could not find their way out. Suddenly, they noticed a flickering light. Approaching, they saw that it was foxes cooking their dinner under a tree.
The rabbit whispered to the squirrel: “What do we do now, dear friend? It seems like our end is near! These cunning beasts will notice us and devour us in no time.”
The squirrel whispered back: “Let’s climb up the rock! Maybe they won’t see us among the stones.”

They immediately started climbing. They climbed and climbed until they reached the top. Then, a stone loosened under the squirrel. It started to fall down, but luckily, its tail got caught on a protruding rock during the fall. However, this rock could not hold it for long either, and the squirrel fell to the ground with a huge thud, right next to the foxes’ dinner. Frightened, it squealed at the top of its lungs:
Vii-ii-ii-ii!
The foxes were terrified by this. They jumped up, overturned their pots in confusion, extinguished the fire, and scattered in all directions.

The squirrel got up from the ground, dusted itself off, and when it saw that all the foxes had fled and were safe, it exclaimed with a mischievous smile: “Well, foxes, how did you like the squirrel stew?”
The rabbit also slid down the rock and joined the squirrel, laughing. “That was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!” he laughed. “And I thought foxes weren’t afraid of anything!”
From that day on, the rabbit and the squirrel became even better friends, and they never forgot the day when the squirrel’s funny squealing drove away the foxes.
