The Hero Black Cat

Once upon a time, there was a charming little town surrounded by verdant mountains and blooming meadows. In this town, a black cat lived, slinking like a shadow between the houses. Although the cat’s heart was made of gold, the superstitious townspeople saw it as a harbinger of bad luck and never accepted it into their community.

For example, one man would only look out the window, see the cat, and immediately decide to stay home, because who knows what misfortune might befall him if he went out. A bride, who was about to rush to her wedding, saw the cat and immediately canceled the ceremony. At the door of the town butcher, the cat would cast longing glances at the delicacies in the window, but the butcher always chased it away with his broom.

The cat found shelter only in the tall tree at the edge of town, from where it had a long view. Every day it fled from people there, but from there it still watched them, longing to be accepted.

One day, great anxiety gripped the town. The mayor’s little son had wandered away. People searched everywhere, but the boy was nowhere to be found. Only from the top of the tall tree could one see that the boy was wandering in the forest outside the town, on the edge of a dangerous precipice.

The black cat, who saw everything, jumped down from the tree without hesitation and ran as fast as it ever had. It rushed through the fields, jumped over the stream, and reached the boy before he could get into trouble. Gently taking him by the coat, it led him back to town, straight into the arms of the mayor.

The townspeople, seeing the cat’s courage and kindness, finally understood that they had been wrong. The mayor thanked the cat and promised to take care of it. The formerly timid man now stopped every morning to pet it on his way to work. The bride took it with her to the rescheduled ceremony. And the butcher waited for it every morning with the most delicious morsels.

Thus, the black cat, once rejected, became the hero of the town. It moved in with the mayor, where it lived in abundance, but most importantly, in love and acceptance. The people learned that they should not judge others based on appearances alone.
