What do I mean when I say that pictures are the heart of this dictionary?

Based on my own parenting experiences and reading, I know that children primarily communicate through images. They understand the world around them through pictures. Stories also work through images. The better and more effective an image is, the better they understand what we want to convey to them. This way, we can teach them through images without making it feel like a stressful learning process.

A similar motivation inspired the creation of the PixiLearn Chinese picture dictionary and FlashCards. I wanted to teach my own children a foreign language through pictures that create a fairy-tale world for them. This way, learning Chinese becomes easier, as cheerful characters and smiling objects with personality all strive for the same goal: to help them effortlessly and playfully acquire basic Chinese words and phrases.

Do children accept the voices of their peers better?

The answer is yes! As a parent or someone interested in the topic, you have probably experienced that your child feels great when they are in the company of peers. We often say “The children are playing well together”. It’s no coincidence, the word of peers is sacred!

The PixiLearn Picture Dictionary I developed is based on this exact phenomenon. When a child of the same age reads the expression, it is more authentic than if a parent reads it. What is heard is more deeply embedded. This makes the whole language learning process more effective.
